another graphic design tip
i'm looking into lulu.com, an online self-publishing firm. you can make your own books and looks like the costs are fairly low. i think this might come in handy for a portfolio or something...

FINALLY, Xmas answered
so i was taking this xmas quiz on mythbusters' site on the discovery channel site and found out my answer to the neverending question: why is it called xmas??? it is as follows: The X stands for the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter in Christos, the Greek word for "Christ," and a commonly used symbol to represent the name of Christ in religious writings.

a wave of love
although sandrisuperstar.com is not the million-hit megasite its destined to be, i would like to reach out to those in need and ask that both my fans (that's you) donate to the American Red Cross, who is donating money to the Tsunami victims around the Indian Ocean. if you don't want to send money, it is best that you read that link about appropriate material giving at the bottom of the red cross page.
craziest house on the block
um can we say over the top? i couldn't even capture the whole display which spanned two houses and several light and telephone poles. this house was crazy! crazy stocktonians!

merry xmas!
<--- the world's smallest santa globe
who came up with "X" mas? i guess some clarification is in order. i understand that the christians came up with christmas (maybe "christ" and "mass?" -- i don't know). but who was the rhodes scholar who came up with using the x? i never could figure it out.
sigh.
well here's some stuff to keep you amused in xmas:
- NORAD Santa Tracking
- The world's smallest santa globe
- Procrastinating the xmas list? Email it to Santa.

you might wonder at my photography genius, but no worries, my genius is for sale (or lease, anyway).
customize crazy
um i have a need. a need for... not speed, just cute t-shirts with customized messages. so my greatest find to date for that is the Dutch Trade Shop.
speaking of customization... i'm dying to try this silkscreening DVD.

the stain won't come out
last night i saw the movie the human stain which was really different than what i thought it would be. i'm tempted at this point to read the novel as they are most certainly always better than the movie. although... at the risk of sounding like a 14-year-old girl, the main character in the movie (not Anthony Hopkins, but the younger "Coleman Silk," Wentworth Miller) is a hot babe.

to do before i die
every once in a while i make a big list of what i want to do in my life. for example, one of my goals was to swim with dolphins. one was to see Michaelangelo's David. i'm still working on the hangliding. but i found this cool website that gives you crazy ideas about what to do.
the homestretch
i am one week away from finishing my first graduate school semester at the Academy of Art University. this semester has been really busy, what with studying everyday and the long ride over from home to school (I live in Marin County, a 1/2 hour drive from San Francisco, but that translates to 1 1/2 on the oh-so-speedy Golden Gate Bus). Marco and I have only lived in Marin about 4 months and it's starting to grow on me...
anyhow, now that the semester is over, i am amazed of all the skills I've learned. my teachers were really knowledgeable and happily i was taught stuff i think i'll use later on (typography and such). i especially learned that the typeface Arial is a creation of the devil and thus evil. for the true nerd typographers in all of us, check out this game of Helvetica vs. Arial. (if you really think you're good, try this Helvetica vs. Arial Quiz)
for those of you who have no idea about what i'm talking about (the Helvetica-Arial war), read this.
