typophile
so i am in the throes of semester projects and am currently creating and typesetting a series of books on typography icons of three different time periods. i am happy to say i'm actually having fun at this now, and since i was really interested in screen typefaces and how they interact with computer users, i was happy to discover the work of matthew carter, who i really didn't know much about before. it turns out he was the type designer to create verdana and georgia, both microsoft fonts specifically created for the screen.
there are some interesting articles out there that discuss the virtues of each of the two fonts.
you need to download these fonts to properly view many sites out on the web, including this one.
