this picture of rusty was so frickin' cute i had to post.

interview

a modern day interview with 500 year old Claude Garamond. weird.

yet another knitted item :)

this is yet another knitting project I've completed :) The hat is just a plain roll brim hat but the scarf is a keyhole scarf, meaning that it has a hole where one of the ends goes through (its more comfy than tying it!) what i love about this set is that its lightweight and not too hot, so I can wear it now that its spring.

if you are a type nut you'll know what this means :)

you kern me on, baby.

server room beanie

mmmm.... my finger tastes gooood.

most of the stuff i have knitted was for myself. but knitting for one's self is selfish. so when marco asked me to knit him a hat to wear at his company's colo (where the servers are kept in an air conditioned warehouse), i thought it would be an opportunity to make him something with love and dedication. so here it is, the server room beanie. it's not so pretty when i started to decrease it on top, but it looks ok from the front.

happily, our marriage makes us exempt from the Knitting Curse, which states that if a knitter starts making a knitted item for their girlfriend/boyfriend (non-spousal entity), a breakup will soon befall them. ooooweeeeeooooo (*spooky sound here)

color combos

for you graphic design students that are closely watching my blog (yes, both of you!) i present you with a helpful link: color combinations by HP

i'm on a roll!

this is my latest project. it looks small but its a purse that actually goes over my head messenger-bag style, and i really love the different colors! its pretty big, too, about 14 inches by 12 inches. how did i finish so fast, you ask? it was in the works right along with yesterday's hat :)

seaweed hat

i really love the knitting. its addictive! it gives my adult add something to do :) here is my latest finished project, the seaweed hat. its made with this super beautiful yarn with all these funky colors and i love it even though its got tons of mistakes.

first sweater!

woohoo! after weeks of working on my first sweater, here it is. yeah its huge (i think i picked the wrong size to make because the pieces all measured the right proportions in the end) but its comfy and i love it and will wear it forever! woot woot!

sandra, the book critic: review of the DaVinci Code

everyone and their mother told me how great the da vinci code was. amazing read. pure genius. dan brown is a master.

yeah, right.

this book, although riddled with interesting facts and theories, was, for me, lame at best. this was my second dan brown novel, and having read
angels and demons, i believe mr. brown is stuck on one single plot and merely chooses to change the name of the people involved (except for langdon, i guess). the similarities are as follows:
  1. you know from the beginning the main character will accomplish both goals: a) find out where the ultimate "thing"/"person" he is looking for is and b) bag the girl
  2. a secret society of some sort
  3. a hot woman looking to find out why her father/grandfather is dead.
  4. a confused police officer of high rank undecided whether langdon is good or bad
  5. a criminal mastermind that has orchestrated this whole thing
  6. a brute to carry out the crap work
  7. secrets/codes/rituals that are a result of some well-known historical figure
there are many more minor points that are the same, too, yet too numerous to list.

i just couldn't get into it. i had to force myself to get to 3/4 of the book and then, in a last attempt to finish the fricking thing, i got the audiobook to listen to while i knit (so i feel like i'm getting something out of it). i won't spoil it here but that end was so lame and OBVIOUS. sigh. i want to write to dan brown and ask for my brain cells back.

there is a boredom-buster on the davinci code site, though, just if you have nothing to do. randomhouse presents: the davinci code code
