sometimes halloween just doesn't work out

after much work on my original costume, which was really going to be great, i ended up giving up on it at the last minute (we're talking 9:00 pm on party night) because the makeup and hair became disasterous. i then proceeded to throw together what i had on hand. So this year's costume ended up being Courtney Love, with handcuffs and everything. Marco was a Rock God, so it kind of worked out. but i'm still kinda disappointed that my costume this year was not at the caliber of last year's or the year before that. huge sigh.

marco has suggested we start working on next year's costume in july, that way we can get the kinks out by september. i swear on my halloween reputation next year's will be truly great!!!

just out of midterms

midterms was last week so i've been pretty busy with school and stuff. so busy that i've been putting off working on my Halloween costume. my most favorite holiday is Halloween and i usually pride myself in my hand-made costume. this year, though, i had very little time/energy to work on it, so it's been difficult to get psyched about Halloween. in fact, it down-right depresses me. i've got some stuff together to actually make my costume but it's not as impressive as last year's. at least i don't think so. i've got a party to go to this coming weekend and i'll have pics from there... so i'll let you guys be the judge of my costume!

feeties for dogs

imagine this: there is a little chihuahua in the hot las vegas desert wearing these same footies so he doesn't burn his feet! i've never heard of booties for dogs but i sent this set as a part of the ongoing swap. they came out pretty good for being my first booties and winging the pattern :)

the PUNISHER!

because rusty ended up sitting on and ruining a newly bought sheet of handmade paper, i had to punish him. so i put his angel wings and his halo on and took pictures. i didn't really like the halo, but isn't he sweet in wings?

the ongoing swap

yay! amyshrugged got the scarf and neckwarmer i made her for the ongoing swap! this was really fun to make! and she says she loved it so what more could i say? the squared ends of the long scarf are not only decorative, but they keep the scarf from sliding apart :) and the neckwarmer is useful when you don't feel like having a loooong scarf. i'm glad amy liked it, especially since i wanted to say thank you to her for being my partner in the DIY swap (she's the one that sent me the hard-cover book kit! awesome!)

after a long week...

sigh. what a LOOONG week it has been. this week was a little scary because my grandfather was taken to the hospital. we thought it might be cancer again, but it turned out to be just an infection. it seemed serious though, because they kept him in the hospital for several days. but he's ok now, happily back at home and on his way to a full recovery :)

well besides the hectic balance between school and the hospital, i've been able to work on very little knitting-wise this week, but here is a hat that i made for a swap with pibbgirl (from craftster) for the Instant Swap 5. it's a hello kitty hat because she really likes hello kitty (was that a duh sentence or what?). due thankfully to the loooong bus rides to and from school and the loooong rides from my house to the hospital, i've also been able to finish a scarf for another great craftster, amyshrugged. but i can't post it yet 'cause she has yet to receive... pictures soon to come (it's of my own design!)

oh and another small happy picture i was able to take. we found this grasshopper right outside our house, sitting on a leaf. so we brought him inside so i could take pictures of him. he's super green, just the lovely shade of green i love! he was quite photogenic and then i left him on the tomato plants on our balcony to jump to his heart's desire.

cuffed!

marco always whines about how i spend all my time swapping. so this saturday, when i was crafting for my various swap partners, i whipped up these babies with some extra beads I had and a pair of toggles. they look really nice on, just need to solder the jump rings connecting the wire to the toggle.
