more knitting, MORE!

i made this little black one skein wonder for the famous tinafish of craftster (she's famous for her hobo bags). she sent me a great bag in return! and then i made some headbands for a regular craftster swap and a kitty hat (of course, what else?) for a different swap with the same person (catpants, in craftster). i've made so many kitty hats i can make em in my sleep. i thought posting yet another kitty hat pic would be redundant, but here's a link to the latest kitty hat, for you more curious folk.

finally, crochet-success!

i made this last week, rather than do my homework... i learned to crochet! not the smartest of things when i'm supposed to be doing homework, but hey, i got a cute scarf out of it. i got the pattern from debbie stoller's newest book, the happy hooker... it was pretty easy :) and doesn't look that bad, huh? i now have double crochet on the brain... there is a few mistakes, but hey, it's my first real try.

swap happy
it's official. i'm swap happy. i LOVE swapping. nothing like getting love in the mail! here are some things i've sent out lately:
some stitchmarkers that i made for chrissy.eew, who made me a sock monkey a little bit ago... this is my sort of thank you!

some needlefelted pins for cotneyroo, who made me a TIVOLI and a pair of sushi potholders!

and last but not least, some cool microchip earrings for my bff emmie!

hope everyone liked what i made them!!!

i'm in a good mood today for no particular reason.
i woke up at 8:45 this morning kind of groggy and feeling tired. we had spent the night before cleaning up the apartment because my mom was coming over today. i called her and she told me she wasn't going to make it, that tomorrow was better. ok, i said, i guess i can go back to bed. it took a lot but i finally fell asleep again.
at noon we got our mail and so the postman rung the doorbell. we both woke up and unexplicably, i was in a great mood. i felt rested and happy, and although i still have a ton of things to do, i was happy.
my happy feeling was increased as i received my amazon books (The Happy Hooker -- a crochet book, Generation T -- a t-shirt reconstruction book and 52 Projects : Random Acts of Everyday Creativity). i also started reading improv everywhere's website, begun by some improv actors who try "to add excitement and happiness to otherwise dreary routines." they are seriously hilarious.
and i'm still in a good mood as i write this, knowing full well when i'm done, i'm going to have to finish cleaning, go to costco, start the laundry, and do my homework.
oh happy day!

did i say i was on track?
my teacher didn't seem to think so. so goes another week of critiques. sometimes i feel beat down from all the critiques i get from my teachers. granted, they're supposed to tell me what is wrong with my designs, but would it kill them to say, "good effort"?

ho hum, another hat... what else is new?
this is yet another hat i've made for a swap... i really need to memorize new patterns! these hats are getting rather sadly similar :-anyhow, i've just finished my homework for school tomorrow and for once i feel like i'm on track with this particular class. this is the class in which i'm designing a film festival and all its facets -- letterheads, products, poster, etc. it's a fun project; for once i feel like i'm making something real. i'm happy with where i'm going now.
my other class, on the other hand, is another story. i hope i can move forward on it tomorrow.

mr winkle strikes again!
i went to change my clothes and found my dog, on his back, trying desperately to be mr. winkle.

forrest
i recently came across some pictures from last summer of forrest, my turtle. this is her own kiddie pool where we put her when we completely clean her aquarium (only during the summer, in the winter, she goes in the tub.) she hates it and tries to climb out the entire time (but hey she has to go somewhere!) anyhow, here she is, forrest in the summer :) (and more forrest).

more stuff i made, 'cause i like it :)

these are silly little stitchmarkers that i made for the ongoing swap :) the top ones are made with shrinky dinks, which i didn't discover until my adulthood and missed out on them my entire childhood! as a kid, i thought it was stupid to get plastic and have it shrink in the oven. it made no sense: who cares if it got small? what i didn't realize is that not only does it get small but it becomes this hard thick plastic. it's wonderful! i love it. the second set of stitchmarkers are made with little microchips i gathered from discarded printer cartridges. i go through at least two to three sets of printer cartridges in a semester (8 cartridges in a set) so i have plenty of cartridges to throw away. my friend beth showed me that she kept the little chips that come in them. i thought it was a good idea and when my swap partner said she liked microchip jewelry i thought this was the perfect set of stitchmarkers :)
