major update

ok so there are sooo many things that have happened since the last post! the major thing being that i finally got my vacation! i am sooo happy for it, 'cause i needed it. my mom took me to Disney World in florida! and i have to tell you it was really fun :) i went to epcot and animal kingdom the first two days (with my mom and her friends rada and aurora) and then magic kingdom and disney-mgm and epcot again with marco (who came a couple days after we did). i took the good camera with me and got some great animal shots in the animal kingdom. that shot of the gorilla is my pride and joy, as i have never been close enough (or had a good enough lens before) to capture one so well.

the vacation was good, even though it was a little unsettling at times. why unsettling? we stayed at the walt disney world resort itself and everywhere you turned, it was all about disney. you want a movie? you gotta go into a disney area. dinner? a disney restaurant. need deodorant? you gotta buy it at a disney convenience store. it was weird and expensive. but for the most part it was really fun :) here are ALL the pictures, for you curious types.

in other news, i went to our school's spring show when i got back from vacation. it was interesting to see how everyone interpreted their projects. afterwards, a bunch of us graphic design grad students went to dinner at bucca di beppo and had a really fun time. it's not often that 15 of us get together for dinner. i didn't have my camera, but our friend nana did! here are all the pics from her camera.

wow this post is getting long and i was going to put in some swap stuff i've made since my last post, but i think i'll wait for some people to receive and put it in there. i hope they like their stuff!

i'm done i'm done i'm done!!!!

i'm officially done with school! very excited!!! this has been a hard semester for me and to be done with it is a feat in itself. so here i am to show you what i've done entire semester.

firstly, i took a class called integrated communications, where i had an assignment to create a film festival for a director of our choice. i love mira nair (monsoon wedding, vanity fair), so i chose her. i created an entire festival system for her, including a 3ft x 4 ft poster, a dvd set with case, a festival program, tickets, a keepsake necklace, a logo animation and a commercial/trailer. everything i made is here! (except for the trailer). the pics at left are just a sneak peak (top is poster and the bottom is letterhead set). all photography, images, writing done by me.

i also took a class called experimental typography in which we were to categorize the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a collection of rights written by the UN after WWII. this was a web project done all in flash, and it can be found at UDofHR.org. for right now, only the red and orange parts work as the programming is a bear! if you play with it, please let me know if you think of the user experience. i have been working on making it user-friendly.

mother's day!

mother's day was quick for me, as i spent a TON of time doing homework and i could only go to my mom's for a late lunch... but here are a few pictures anyhow! and the second is my cousin with her new "palm pilot" (a sad old nokia phone that no longer has a keypad on it and needs to dial with a pen). all the photos are here!

FOC 2 swap reveal

yay! my foc partner received! and she was... da dum! Alice (aschnebly)! i made her some schnazzy vegas stitchmarkers, a brown & bleach shirt, a needlefelted birdy pin and a dayflower scarf! and that was only for the first two sendouts (four in total). i'll get pics soon of the other stuff i made for her :)

i am a vector of disease

so i'm over my pink eye, but apparently i've become a vector of disease, because rusty now has pink eye!!! poor thing, his eye is all swollen and pink and he's probably highly contagious too. booooooooo. we'll be taking our little diseased dog to the vet soon, not to worry!

the goldfish hat & more fishies

i naughtily joined the goldfish/koi swap 'cause i couldn't resist. i shouldn't have, but i did... so i made my partner a hat! and some fishies. i love my hat because it is of my own little creation. i made up the pattern, the worm and the fair isle chart (Fair Isle pattern for goldfish can be downloaded here)! just in case you don't get it, it's a little worm that's being stalked by a circling bunch of goldfish! the fish stuffies are from World of Knitted Toys. they're fun to make and they're super cute. the white one is a special koi :)

should be doing homework

hey guys! sorry i haven't really been responding to posts, or been good at communicating lately! i won't go into the fact that it's all school related (AGAIN!)'cause everyone must be tired of me complaining... oh well, one and a half weeks till school is over!!! i'm counting the seconds.

i do have some downtime, thankfully; unfortunately it's on the bus (so no internet connection), but it does give me some time for crafty things! so here is the one-skein orange scarf i crocheted... the reason i made the same scarf again was 'cause it was easy to remember the pattern (didn't have to go digging for the pattern everywhere and balance it on my backpack while crocheting on the bus...) and 'cause i wanted to practice the stitches that i've learned (double crochet and shell, which is basically double crochet, just a bunch of times in one place).

i also made this necklace from some felted beads i got in a swap. it's pretty simple and i made it while waiting for my homework to print (which can take hours).
