can you tell i'm baby focused?

so after that happy post of feeling better, etc., things went a little crazy. of course i say i'm ok one day and the next i thought i was going into labor. i felt really crappy, contraction-y and really tired and went to the doctor to find out if i was in labor. he basically told me that i wasn't even close :-\ boooo. i felt better the next day but i think i've reached another level of discomfort and it's difficult to focus on doing anything anymore. mostly i sleep (at the insistence of everyone around me) but i'm trying to do other things (homework and cleaning) in little spurts.

the good news is i only have a few more days to go as my doctor is talking to me about inducing (due to the diabetes). i know the ideal situation is to let her come by herself but i don't want her to be in danger by staying (which seems to be something the doctor seems concerned about).

so that's my baby news... here's some more fun stuff:

my good bloggy friend Sylv from Chez Plum has tagged me for the Meme of 7!
here goes:
  1. i secretly long to be a dolphin trainer.
  2. i drink tap water for the fluoride.
  3. i dislike sunny days. i like days that are comfortably overcast the best.
  4. i still have tons of cassette tapes. i have no where to play them except my car, but i still have them.
  5. i am incredibly thrilled when hummingbirds come to my feeders and announce them by saying "we have a customer!"
  6. the one thing i hate the absolute most is the sound of a leaf blower. it drives me insane. (plus, i know they have quiet ones, so why all the noise?)
  7. i am addicted to sugarless gum. especially orbit.
"Here are the rules: Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those tagged need to write in their blogs the 7 facts, as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag seven others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog." (shamelessly copied from Sylv's blog, 'cause she stated the rules better than i could've).

i'm tagging: Amy, Alice, Katie, Heather, Christelle, Nicole, Emmie

Two baby showers and a monkey

so it's a few days after the last days of school and let me tell you i feel loads better. not just because i don't have to go to school, but because i've made an effort to sleep and eat well and exercise more. my feet are no longer super swollen and the pregnancy is feeling much smoother (still uncomfortable but not as much). who knew that stress was that bad for you? i am grateful for having the opportunity to rest up before the birth.

one of the things i've done in my few days off was learn how to make a sock monkey (like i said i would! hooray!) i went to the maker faire with marco who really wanted to go. i mainly sat around at different crafty workshops 'cause i didn't want to overdo it; so this was one of the results of my workshops... my first sock monkey! i call him gerardo. like rico suave ;)

additionally, i've been meaning to put up the pictures of the baby showers (yes, plural, i've had two) -- both a family one and one my friend beth threw for me for my school friends. they were both really great. my aunt and mom put together a huge baby shower with everyone in the family circle invited (and a few good friends of mine, too). click here or the first picture to see the album :)

the next picture is of my school friends at an SF restaurant where my good friend beth (receiver of the crochet poo) organized a small dinner/baby shower for me. it was full of pasta and fun conversation :) for more pics, click the 2nd pic or find them right here.

end of the semester poop-out

so it's finally the end of the semester... actually it was yesterday. i HIGHLY advise against being 9 months pregnant at finals for any school situation. it was super stressful this last few weeks and i had to take an incomplete grade for the semester (basically a medical excuse saying i have more time to complete my assignments). yes that means i can spend more time working on my stuff, but really i was hoping to be done so that i didn't have to think about it anymore. *sigh*

i am trying to adopt the attitude that this is an opportunity to improve what i did have done, rather than a failure to get things done. (dang i should watch that Secret dvd again).

on other news i will be having some baby shower pics up soon :) and i will be posting pics on what i did do for my assignment. and then i made another little hat for the baby and a soap holder thing for my mom for mothers' day. as soon as i get the pics, they'll be up, so stay tuned ;)

baby things

so first of all here's a belly shot of myself at 36 weeks. i am one week from full term :) and the doctor says the baby can be born any time from here till my due date and she'd be fine. my mom practically wants her to come right now! but i think i can wait at least another week. i reaaaaaallllly want to finish the semester so i can concentrate on her when she gets here.

these next set of pictures are right after my baby shower last saturday. it was so nice! a lot of people came and it was pretty fun for us all. we got a ton of stuff for the baby but the thing that we had to absolutely put together (just in case we needed the carseat) was the travel system (the stroller & carseat set). so marco and i put this baby together... it only took about 20 minutes and it was fun to see it together. we even put our first baby in it to test it out for weight ;) i had read reviews that a lot of people didn't like the weight of the carseat when the baby is in it. so we took rusty and put him in to test out an 11 pounder. it seemed ok, not too heavy for me. and it was easy to click it into the stroller so it all worked out. we love this stroller! hope it is as cool when she's finally here. i can't wait.

the teeny tiny sweater

i made this teeny tiny sweater for the one tiny thing swap on craftster. it's seriously teeny tiny! the hanger i used was made from a paper clip. i think i might have goofed a little bit of it (the pattern for this sweater wasn't super clear) but it turned out alright at the end :)
