for you, my general viewing (and reading) audience, here is a bunch of stuff about me.

for my swap partners, here you will find lots of inspiration and likes and dislikes to help you craft to your heart's content.

generally about me:

i'm 29 (birthday: November 1) and am a graduate student in graphic design. i'm very happily married to my amazing husband marco and we both have adopted the best (boy) doggie in the world, rusty. also, some recent news, we are expecting a baby in june 2007!

i am peruvian by birth, but i've lived in northern california almost my whole life. i've also lived in argentina, italy, and peru. i speak fluent spanish and italian, and enough french to find a bathroom.

um... what else? i'm a furious knitter -- i knit all day and all night sometimes. i love love love knitting and you will find me always with a pair of sticks in my bag. i love making hats for people, especially in swaps; i also like making scarves and am working on a good model for an ipod cozy. my favorite thing about knitting is learning new stitches! i think my love of knitting is genetic because my grandmother is also a furious knitter and is addicted to yarn. she happily sits and knits with me whenever we're together, imparting her purls of wisdom :)

as for what i swap besides knitting, i am willing to offer up small graphic design projects like web ads, flyers, or hangtags. i'm not currently doing any logos or large websites for swapping purposes (if you would like to hire me, though, you can look through my professional portfolio at isla-fiorelli.com). if you are my swap partner and want to receive graphic design, just let me know!

my likes:
  • general favorite "themes":
    • sushi
    • fruit
    • food in general
    • ocean creatures (turtles, whales, lobsters, etc.)
    • other animals such as: llamas, alpacas, dogs, guinea pigs
  • my absolute most favorite color is turquoise. i like blues in general, too. and i especially love turquoise with brown. i also love apple and grass green.
  • i love the ocean and am completely in love with oceanic creatures. my favorite is the sea turtle. i also collect turtle stuff.
  • my favorite movie is seven brides for seven brothers. i'm a sucker for old musicals.
  • my favorite book is pride and prejuidice by jane austen, who is my favorite author. i also love sense and sensibility, emma, and mansfield park.
  • i like stuff with my name on it. i'm just weird like that.
  • i am in love with handspun and handpainted yarn.
  • my most favorite food in the world is potatoes. hooray for carbs!
  • i love the '70s and '70s style stuff

my not-so-likes:
  • pink. pink is just not a color i wear.
  • pastels or "baby" colors like baby yellow and that weird baby peach color
  • anime.
  • '80s style clothing. the '80s died for a reason.
  • religious themes

stuff you can't go wrong with:
  • a hoodie. i am a hoodie hoarder. any theme, but if it has to do with food, that's better!
  • AMIGURUMI! any animal will do, but i looove dogs, and turtles.
  • an iPod case with a cutout for the wheel and some sort of see-through screen protector. i have a 4th generation, 20gb iPod.
  • a hipslinger in a cool print: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=31379.0
  • screen printed or stenciled t-shirts. PM me for sizes :)
  • baby onesies in green shades for our baby to be (we don't know if it's a boy or girl yet). or just general baby stuff!

crafts i would want to learn in the future:
  • microscope slide necklaces. i have a soldering iron, but can't find the supplies for the life of me.
  • sewing. i went to fashion school for a year but can't sew a straight seam to save my life.
  • spinning yarn. my father has an alpaca in peru and i hope to learn to spin before he shears it.
  • embroidery. some embroidery i've seen is awesome! it's especially cool if its from sublime stitching.

for the purposes of making the picking of swap items to make easier for my swap partners, the gallery below is a *partial* list of stuff that i would eventually like to receive from someone, sometime. here is the full list.
